Removing that Lantana is a real job. The best way is to get a sprayer with Roundup and as you cut the brush you have Pat give the cut a good spray. But you have to spray it quick before it dries and it will die off. Then next season you can wrap a chain around it and pull it out. Take care, John
Yes I agree if its growing. I have tried in winter before without much success. Works good in spring and summer. John
@@farminglifeaustralia6716 John, I forget you are a 180 degrees out from our seasons sorry.
@@shooterjohn7163 No problem it is still sound advise and I agree with you. John
sorry to see the grass in such a state.hope it grow's back.stay safe . gary.
Its disappointing but it will come good. The cattle is the worry now. John
Movie Tip, Netflix, try and find it Hillbilly Elegy 2020 | Maturity Rating:R | 1h 57m | Drama An urgent phone call pulls a Yale Law student back to his Ohio hometown, where he reflects on three generations of family history and his own future. Starring:Amy Adams, Glenn Close, Gabriel Basso I should go find it. Newt Gingrich, our former House Speaker says to watch it. That's our Vice President candidate 2024. No harm no foul. <3
Your buddies (our buddies), the cattle, are right there working with you! They like that cool dirt on their heads or the smell of it! Yeah, you're welcome John. ALways a pleasure, watching your shows!
Fresh dirt seems to get them excited I don't know why. Other places I have been on the cattle seem to pretty much ignore people if they are not in their space. Ours are a bloody pest when you are trying to work. John
what do you use on the lantana i have a huge problem with it here. great video x
I have found that glyphosate works best and is the cheapest. The problem is if you spray it it kills the grass. Cut the lantana at the ground and apply strong Glyphosate (round up) on fresh cut stump. The other way if its out in the open and its large is to remove it with a machine in one big tree. I did that in the movie. John
Lantana is a pest and can grow to a huge size, as I’ve seen many years ago in the bush. Good luck with getting rid of it. Thank heavens the cattle made a slight improvement around the yards, John. I really hope things improve for you both, mate. That bull certainly wanted a free ride into town, 😂.
I dont think you will ever beat lantana unless you own a very small block and do nothing other than attack it. John
"In the morning we'll eartag 'em.." 🤔 Looking at all them cleanskins I was thinkin' about loading up the portables and running irons and takin' a little trip, Old Fellah! 😜 The frost up here has blackened all the country just like there! Gonna be some nervous cockies till later in the year when the beasties and urea clear some of the fuel burden a bit. 😱😈
Incredible to see the trees protecting the grass like that
Yeah there is something to be said for park style clearing. John
Thank you for the advice! Welding down vs vertically was a big one for me!
Hope you picked up a idea or two. John
At around 5:23 on this video they use an electric crusher/schredder to crush the char. Looks like they modified the top to make a larger hopper. These things run at low rpm and have a rotating barrel to crush garden waste. Looks like zero dust. ua-cam.com/video/Zh61x7KY1CU/v-deo.htmlsi=QKVFsTb_ZtVics2I
Thanks I will have a look. John
Great idea. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! John
Hey mate. I have an opportunity to buy a hammermill run off a single phase electric motor. Do you think that might be suitable to process char?
I think most hammer mills would do the job you might need to slow it down. Basically the one I built is a hammer mill. John
Need to offset the baffles further overlapped, by around half that will stop the char bouncing up
Yes I changed the thing again and its good now. John
Can I make it from iron bark bark, I cut wood for sale and have huge loads of bark left over that I just burn for ash
I think it would work. John
Thanks for the help sir I work for Master Halco fence in Georgia USA thanks again
Thanks for watching. John
Good on ya
Thanks for watching. John
Hi mate. 3 years on which is your favourite method of making char?
It depends on the wood I have. If its long the upright barrel. If its less than the length of the barrel. The horizontal barrel. John
Hi John, just bought my first mig welder, Viper 185, and found this video. I've been an oxy-acet welder and I'm wanting to teach myself mig, so I found your info on setting up very helpful, not knowing anything about migs. Really appreciate this video and keep up the good work.
Thanks I am glad the video helped. John
Awesome John and truly well spoken 👍
Thanks for watching commenting. John
Thanks ! ..... That was a Better demo than most Butchers in their fancy stainless steel shops ! ... Cheers !
Nothing very fancy about our butchery thats for sure. Ha Ha. John
I bought one cause of your channel mate thank you
I hope it goes good for you. John
Hi John .. nice work you do.. I have the same welder and I am just starting mig welding.. mainly on my 4x4 doing rust repairs.. I am using 0 .6 gauge wire.. it keeps tangling up in the wire feed / rollers.. what size wire are you using on thin sheet metal? Some people say use 0.8 for less issues but uses abit more heat though.. cheers Rod
I dont use thinner than.8. I have a video out about welding thin metal. Its called STOP DOING THIS. John
what a great poem .do you know anymore.loved it .stay safe . gary.
I don't know a lot of poems. I only learn them if I think they are extra good. John
City folk and dogs. Ahahahah ahahah
It pretty much sums up the whole thing. John
Enjoyed that John. My brother was like this. Bring 6 beers and drink a carton, the tightass is never invited to anything now. My jack Russell sleeps on my rottweiler, both clowns. Biggest trouble maker was my old Jack Russell. Very intelligent but always getting in trouble. He used to attack the rottweiler. Little dog but very tough and crazy.
Before we had the Jack Russel we had another one, and our friends had a Rottweiler we introduced them and the Jack Russell latched onto the Rottweilers ear. The Rottweiler couldn't get its head around enough to have a go at the JR. It was a major job to get them apart without getting bit. I don't suppose you were originally from Ballina. John
@farminglifeaustralia6716 no from Melbourne unfortunately. I have a million stories of my old Jack Russell. He used to get out making trouble. Dog catcher would chase him up to the creek. He would wait until he got close them swim across and look at him from the other side. He used to stir up the German shepherd down the street. Shepherd broke the gate and chased him home , Rottweiler got the German shepherd and he attacked him as well. Told the rottweiler to stop and she did , Jack Russell wouldn't give up. He was hanging off the German shepherd while he's running away. He bit me as I was trying to stop him. He never changed and lived 18 years. Was never a dull moment with him. He had all kinds of schemes going. He drove the rottweiler nuts , rottweiler would never hurt him though. Just hold his head on the ground with her paws until he had enough. Hour later he's back for more or would steal bones from her. So many things he did, like a little gangster.
Thats great thanks for the laugh 🤣
Thanks for watching. John
Hahahahahahaha, how true, lol 😂. Love it , John 👍🏼.
I am sure anyone from the country can relate to this poem. John
Yep, I can relate to that. The country cousins.😮
Pretty true to life. John
very funny John

Some of my fellows here call them 'City-its'. I never realized when I moved here for my dream, that I'd be such involved in the 'tourism' industry. Hey, I get to see a black person in the summa (practicing my Aussie accent). It's like don't bite the hand that feeds ya here mate! I will always appreciate Goodman.
Ower yer been goin. I saw a sticker on a car in a YT video the other day, and it said, Don't California Texas. I nearly pissed myself laughing. The people in the US seem pretty divided at the moment. Maybe they will change the name. The Divided States of America. Ha Ha. John

I wouldn't do that. Parts are not that easy, at least not here. John
@@farminglifeaustralia6716 yeah thought that might of been the case. Bugger. Cheers for the videos mate, I purchased a unimig because of this channel too.

Thanks I will post a video about fitting the piece of deck. John
Thanks. Great tutorial.
Thanks hope you got something out of it. John
My boat 16' CDory Cruiser is built heavy on a lot of this I suspect. It's a cheaters sailboat (with a stinky thing). it has a 4" hull. Built in 1991. Croiky, if I cared about it I should cover it the wind blew the tarp off. But there's a damn Wasp nest in the tarp laying on the ground. Had to run to lake! Thanks for taking us along.
@@ClickinChicken Take care of the wasp at night, but still bee cautious.
John, you and Pat sure make a great team. I used to hate fiberglass when I was younger. I had a Corvette and I modified it with shaved fenders and fender flares. I was a bit scared when I started that project but it sure came out great. You just need to dive in sometimes. You two stay well… John
Thanks John. Yeah fiberglass can be a sh( + of a job if you don't know the rules. John
Love to see it being installed on the boat 😊
Ok will do. John
never used it myself but now i know what to do .i will use it.please show us the install.that would be great.thank's for posting.stay safe. gary p.s did you ever see the boar hog again.
The big boar went away. I will post a video on the installation. John
I rebuilt a 21 foot sail boat years ago and I still have resin running through my blood. Ahahahh Ahahah. I always used two layers of gloves so that I could take the outer layer off if needed and keep working. Jim
I have trouble getting one set of gloves on. John

@@ChileExpatFamily I have found the air blower on the compressor works good to give them a bit of a stretch. John

Yes its still going have not had any trouble. John
Farkrn classic
Its a classic alright. John
I always thought biochar was just charcoal loaded with micro-organisms
I think everyone has a different opinion. The objective is to make charcoal at a hot temperature to get rid of the bad by products. Traditional charcoal is made in a very low oxygen low heat long drawn out method that leaves a lot of undesired residue. There are other objectives as well if you are a purest. Cause as little gas and smoke while its being made. Use only organic materials to charge the char etc. My opinion is if its made at above 450 C and its charged to make it work its ok. John
